I finished Spring semester at Weber with some of my best grades yet which made me pretty happy. On May 3rd I started a CNA program at the Ogden Weber Applied Tech College. I figured I should get out of the restaurant and get into the medical field especially since I am more than half way done with my Bachelors Degree. PA is still a ways off but it's flying by and it will be here soon enough. Since I have already taken medical and science classes at Weber, the CNA course flew by and I finished in half the time alloted. It is a work at your own pace class.
Today was my last day of doing clinicals. My first day was an in class "clinical" where I taught the students as they needed. The next day I went to a Psych Unit in North Ogden. It was really fun. There was some interesting people in there and it was actually very and entertaining. Today I was at a nursing home where I had to deal with the hands on work of bed baths and wiping bottoms. I got to do some other things that were really cool though like helping a patient with a recent hip replacement to get into her wheelchair. We used a mechanical lift that reminded me of machines we used in construction to move heavy materials around. After finishing at the nursing home I then headed off to work at the restaurant to spend another six hours standing on a tile floor. My feet are so dead tonight but it was a fun day. It was much more rewarding to help people with things that they actually needed than to help people who whine about whether or not they get a seat in a comfortable, well lit, not too cold, not too hot, nowhere near children, not close to a party, too loud, too close to the kitchen, want a bigger booth so their purse can fit next to them, place to eat. Anyway, enough complaining, Cambria is rolling over to go to sleep, and I should put the computer away.
